dc.description.abstract21st- century education needs to ensure that students are ready to be part of an intercultural and interconnected world. Didactic Audiovisual Translation (DAT) is an emerging but consolidated discipline which aims to enrich this type of learning process by making students actively use audiovisual products. Following its principles, language students are expected to create their own subtitles or record their own dubbed versions of video clips. In this particular study, the main goal is to explore to which extent the inclusion of implicit and explicit cultural elements within the design of the lesson plans in the Audiovisual Translation (AVT) mode of voice- over may result in an improvement of their language skills. The results gathered through a pre- test, a post- test and questionnaires show that this design helped participants enhance their language and mediation competences. It also fostered participants’ motivation and intercultural knowledge. It would be necessary to also assess whether this methodological proposal has the same effects with other AVT- modes.en
