La conciencia metalingüística implica un control atencional de las conductas comunicativas y un distanciamiento del lenguaje como vehículo de comunicación. Su desarrollo temprano en el niño exige, en primer lugar, una percepción del lenguaje como objeto de referencia y, posteriormente, la capacidad de fijar la atención al mismo a través de la acción inhibitoria. Desde un enfoque basado en los usos, consideramos que esta capacidad surge a través del input, por lo que en este trabajo se examinan estrategias colaborativas de estimulación del lenguaje entre el cuidador y el niño, a las que denominamos construcciones de desencadenamiento de conductas comunicativas. A partir del análisis dos corpus longitudinales de habla infantil, se muestra el papel que este tipo de construcciones tienen en el desarrollo de la conciencia metalingüística, a través de la triangulación de la atención conjunta hacia el lenguaje como objeto. Por último, se analizan usos productivos y creativos de este tipo de construcciones, que demuestran un alto control metalingüístico en edades tempranas.
Metalinguistic awareness involves attentional control of communicative behaviours and a distancing from language as a vehicle of communication. Its early development in the child requires, firstly, a perception of language as an object of reference and, subsequently, the ability to fixate attention on it through inhibitory action. From a usage-based approach, we consider that this ability emerges through input, so in this paper we examine collaborative strategies of language stimulation between caregiver and child, which we refer to as communicative behaviour-triggering constructs. Based on the analysis of two longitudinal corpora of infant speech, we show the role that such constructions play in the development of metalinguistic awareness, through the triangulation of joint attention to language as an object. Finally, productive and creative uses of this type of constructions are analysed, which demonstrate a high level of metalinguistic control at an early age.
