dc.description.abstractFlamenco was one of the main cultural references of Francoism in its processes of redefining Spanish identity. The attitude of the dictatorship ranged from the anticasticist rejection of the Falangism of the 1940s to the appropriation and mystification of its media stars as prototypes of Hispanidad in European publics. The demands of the incipient tourism facilitated the nationalization of a sociological and musical genre that, likewise, maintained spaces of resistance throughout the period. The objective of our work is to approach the divergent and complementary attitudes towards flamenco and its role in shaping a national identity.en
