In questo lavoro analizzo la presenza multiforme di elementi e riferimenti al mondo della scrittura in racconti siciliani orali raccolti tra la seconda metà del XIX secolo e i primissimi anni del XX, con il duplice scopo di, in primo luogo, sottolineare il complesso rapporto esistente tra oralità e scrittura e, in secondo luogo, capire quali funzioni e caratteristiche attribuirono allo scritto la cultura popolare e i suoi interpreti, per lo meno nel contesto preso in esame.
The present paper analyses the multiform presence of elements and references to the world of writing in Sicilian oral tales collected between the second half of the 19th century and the very first years of the 20th, with the twofold aim of, firstly, underlining the complex relationship between orality and writing and, secondly, understanding the functions and characteristics attributed to writing by popular culture and its interpreters, at least in the context that has been examined in this research.
