Resumen
This project is an approach to Irish society in James Joyce´s time and more specifically about the situation of women as the most disadvantaged segment of the population. As Dubliners is considered a perfect reflection of Irish society at that time, this work analyses how Joyce reflects female´s role, conditioned by historical, religious and social events, in the two selected short stories that are “Eveline” and “The Boarding house”. Through the analysis of Irish society, women circumstances, and Joyce´s background it is possible to picture a complete depiction of the female context at the beginning of the 20th century.
