dc.description.abstractThe introduction of the Cistercians in the Christian kingdoms had a great impact on epigraphy. In this paper, we will analyse the general characteristics of Cistercian epigraphy as well as publish the medieval inscriptions of the monastery of Santa María de Cañas. Three unknown invocationes of epitaphs are added to the already known register of inscriptions. This is a representative example of changes in epigraphy as a result of the reform. The study concludes with a section on advertising in the Cistercian Order and the specificity of the Cañas production in the context of Cistercian epigraphy.en
